Conductor: Domonkos Héja
Carl Maria von Weber consistently composed groundbreaking masterpieces. The overture to his final opera, Oberon, blends fresh, playful wit with poetic lyricism, imbued with the vitality of rejuvenated, self-discovering, early romantic German culture. The contrast to the fairy-tale chaos of Oberon, the fairy king, and Titania, the fairy queen, is represented in the first half of our concert by Weber's Clarinet Concerto in F minor, which, together with its companion piece in E-flat major, stands as a significant work in the clarinet repertoire. The soloist, Rudolf Szitka, born in Miskolc and a teacher at the University of Miskolc, brings youthful energy and an unyielding spirit of experimentation, along with the blissful intoxication of discovery, to his performance.
Robert Schumann’s beloved symphony will also be fueled by this youthful enthusiasm. Conductor Domonkos Héja, music director of the Augsburg State Theater, will be returning to conduct the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra after ten years.
