Conductor and harpsichord: Soma Dinyés

Our series finale takes a look into the history and golden age of the concerto grosso, one of the pinnacles of Baroque instrumental music. The characteristic feature of this genre is the collaboration between a group of soloists and the orchestra; its first great master is the Italian Arcangelo Corelli, whose compositions had an inspiring influence across Europe. Händel published concerto grossos in London, while J. S. Bach composed such works in Germany.

J. S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. V was the first piece in music history to give the harpsichord a true solo role. The “Brandenburg Concerto No. VII” is nothing more than the reconstruction of the presumed original form of the three-harpsichord concerto with catalog number 1064 – created by Soma Dinyés, who will conduct the concert and perform on the harpsichord. The versatile musician is also the conductor of the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir.
