This program, born from the combined allure of Austrian-German culture, song, and the stage, highlights vocal lyricism – with the thematic core focusing on motifs of fateful wandering and longing – while the framework of the concert presents a hymn-like, intoxicating prelude of operatic songs and lively operetta suite music.

Wagner's composition feels like a confession about life, beauty, and art, while Richard Strauss's piece is a blend of Viennese waltz and spicy humor, nostalgia, passion, playfulness, and a love for beauty. Austrian composer Albin Fries' opera Nora was the winner of the 2018 Bartók Plus Opera Festival’s international opera composition competition. The composer follows in the footsteps of Richard Strauss, and through this spring concert, we will get a taste of another of his operas. The young Szilvia Vörös is a soloist at the Vienna State Opera.
