Khachaturian: Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 46

Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36

Miskolc Symphony Orchestra

Violin: Francesco De Angelis

Conductor: Rico Saccani

Aram Khachaturian, the Armenian composer, is famous for his Violin Concerto, which also has a flute arrangement. The composer often blended elements of his country's folk music with the traditional language of European music, and it is these folkloric moments—rich with Eastern melodic turns and passionate rhythms—that give the Violin Concerto its unique “flavor.”

The performer for this piece will be Francesco De Angelis, concertmaster and solo violinist of La Scala and the Milan Philharmonic. – Who doesn't recognize the Russian folk song starting with “A young birch stands in the meadow…”? Tchaikovsky’s magnificent variations, which he wrote based on this melody, will captivate us in the finale of his Symphony No. 4. The world-renowned Rico Saccani, former principal conductor of the Budapest Philharmonic Society and the first guest conductor of the Hungarian State Opera decades ago, will lead the performance.
